These are the toes of the Camel A camel is used for traveling across dry desert areas. The humps located on their backs contain fatty tissue from the water and food they eat. A Bactrian Camel (pictured above) has two humps, a Dromedary Camel (pictured below) has one hump. Here is an easy way to remember which camel is which.
They have leathery pads, with two toes on each foot. When the camel places its foot down the pads spread, preventing the foot from sinking into the sand.
